Making sense of the Economic Crisis & Building a Fair Economy for Working People
WHAT: Forum and community action event looking at the cause of the economic collapse using common language & strategizing on how to make our communities strong again.
WHEN: Tuesday June 9, 6:30-8:30pm
WHERE: Corvallis, Corvallis Public Library
WHO: Sponsored by: Rural Organizing Project, Alternatives to War, Dan Leahy (former professor at Evergreen State College & lifelong labor activist).
WHY: The national & local economies might be on the verge of collapse but now is the time for average working people to stand up to the Wall Street Bankers. We can build a community of accountable banks, good jobs & healthy living.
The People's Economy Tour will present the history of how we got in this mess & the potential to make positive changes within our communities as part of a national process of transforming our economic system. This is an opportunity for YOU to share your stories; talk about your communities needs and present ideas of building a People's Economy in Benton County.
Let's get together to figure out the solutions that will build the community that works for all working people Let's find the banks and credit unions in Benton County willing to pledge to keep our money invested locally and invest in local jobs. Let's get all our households and public institutions to put our money in institutions we can trust. Let’s build our local job market that supports family wage jobs.
