UNAC ANNOUNCES MAJOR MOBILIZATION AGAINST NATO/G8 IN CHICAGO MAY 15, 19 2012

An alliance of Chicago area peace and justice organizations, together with the United National Antiwar Coalition (UNAC) are jointly calling for a united mass mobilization to protest the NATO and G8 Summits to be held in Chicago May 15th-22, 2012. Permit applications were submitted for:
Tuesday May 15th - A National Assembly to put war makers on trial
Saturday May 19th - An international demonstration to express broad outrage at the gathering of war makers wasting billions of dollars on war and devastation during a time of enormous economic hardship and crisis for millions.

Below is the full UNAC Statement and individual and organizational endorsers:

There are some interesting things to think about:
First, history tells us it is generally very difficult to organize large actions in a Presidential Campaign year. The Democrats hate it and they pressure the Left not to "embarrass" the President.
On the other hand, how arrogant is it to invite global capitalism (its military and economic leaders) to literally meet in the President's home town.
And in addition groups on the left are all talking about ways to create a united front of the left.
2012 just got more interesting.
