THE DEMOCRATS PRESENT THEIR MEDICARE CUTS TO THE SUPER COMMITTEE

Oh, boy the Democrats just made their official "Presentation" to the nation via the televised (CSPAN) Super Committee. They call for $400 Billion in Medicare Savings (cuts). With $200 Billion coming from Medicare recipients. I guess that means 200B from payments to Providers (which does effect recipients) and 200B directly from the pocket of Medicare recipients.

Making like it was a big deal, the (anonymous) Democratic spokesman quickly pointed out that they did not want the Medicare eligibility age to increase from 65-67. And then, thinking it would be impressive, "The cuts are limited to those that Obama and Boehner had discussed and already informally agreed to." (Oh, what a relief!!). Of course, no specifics of those Medicare cuts they want were released. They have been coming out in drips and drabs. See my blog of September 26th.

I wish I could join you tomorrow at noon, but can't, being here in Corvallis. But I'm there in spirit, and we have other things we're doing here, including an action in concert with OSU students concerning student loans, debts, and the plutocracy.
The so-called super committee is, to me, disgusting. It's another instance of elected officials taking decisions off the table to be decided by an appointed group, rather than in a democratic manner. So much more of this goes on now, and Obama and his administration keep on joining in and even leading it.
So keep on truckin', all of you Occupy folks; we're on the right track. My son is a recently unemployed actor/finish carpenter in New York City, where he lives in Harlem with his family. Now that he has no work, hopefully just for the time being, he's been riding his bike down to OWS at Zucotti Park for 2-3
hours each day. He says it's really liberating, and he feels more hope for people and for the country there, than he's felt since he can remember. He's basically a kind of anarchist/socialist (at least that's how I'd put it), and I know exactly what he means.
More power to us all!
