OCCUPY----HARTFORD

I think it is good to get as many eyewitness reports from around the country about what they are doing and how they start and build. Here is a summary from Hartford, CT:

75 people met to show solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street protesters who have been building their activity for weeks. People who came were from the local group Food Not Bombs, Catholic Worker, Various anti war groups, Council On Islamic Relations and many unaffiliated and people from small towns around Connecticut.

They decided to focus on Health Insurance Companies since so many are located in Hartford. They also decided on a march to support the MDC Black Contractors protest.

Everyone agreed to build a much larger group before actually deciding on a place to occupy.

What I liked about their approach was the reaching out to minorities and labor to build their group. Not rushing into the direct action phase and the actual decision to occupy until they build their numbers and the fact that they chose a Health Insurance Companies as the corporate entities that made sense for Hartford.
