The crowd, estimated at 300 - 500, included a good demographic slice of Oregonians by age -- the young, students, working people, and elders. SEIU members were on hand, as were Willamette University students, Salem-Keizer MoveOn, Move to Amend, and the Working Families Party.
Energy was strong in spite of the overcast weather and threat of rain. The encampment went up following the march and food began to appear.
As I was leaving at 7:30 p.m., a committee of the General Assembly was discussing how to deal with official requests to vacate Willson Park at 10 p.m. According to the news today, no arrests were made and conversation is underway regarding the future of the tent community.

There was great energy at the march and rally and I'm proud that Salem is part of the Occupy movement.
