PUBLIC SECTOR STRIKE OVER PENSIONS COULD SEE LONDON'S HEATHROW AIRPORT, "GRIND TO A HALT"

As plans for a Public Sector Strike continue, it looks like new layers of workers who have not joined walkouts in the past will strike next week. Heathrow Airport is rushing to try to contain problems for the airport that handles the most international travel in the world..

Heathrow is asking airlines to cut in half the number of passengers they carry next week as there could be 12 hour delays when Immigration Officers strike. The BBC reports that Prime Minister Cameron anticipates a huge impact on Ports and Airports. He quickly added, "But our borders will be secure". During last summer's strike Border Agency Managers ran Passport Control, but this time they have voted to join the Strike.

Former Labour Home Secretary, Alan Johnson has stated that he supports the strike. The current Labour Party leadership does not.

Those planning on walking out are saying that they realize there will be inconvenience for the public but they hope this strike will be so large that they will not have to strike again. Unions say proposals which require their members to work longer and contribute more before they can start collecting their pensions are unfair. This will be one to watch for next week.
