CHICAGO: G8 SUMMIT MOVED TO CAMP DAVID, PROTESTS CONTINUE

As Danny Schechter wrote today:  "Who called first?  Did Obama Alumni Association in Chicago - David Axelrod, Rahm Emanuel and Bill Daley - get nervous and call the White House or was it Barack himself..?"  but regardless, the protests will go on.  Congress has just passed draconian legislation.  The vote in the House was 388-3 for HR 347.  All Democrats supported it and 3 Republicans voted against it. The National Lawyers Guild says, "This gives the government power to charge any American engaged in political protest anywhere in the country".

So G8 moves to Camp David but NATO will still be meeting in Chicago and as one of the protest leaders, Andy Thayer says, "We believe NATO is the military arm of the G8 and anybody who is upset with the G8 should be upset with NATO".
