Workers have been standing together to hold management accountable to protect their right to a fair and free election as they vote for United Food And Commercial Workers (UFCW) representation. They are insisting that there be an environment free from harassment, coercion and intimidation.
They have support from Co-op members who support the workers belief that the Co-op values of equality and democracy are Union values. They are also receiving support from the Southern Oregon Jobs With Justice.
On February 19th they heard from Daniel Cobb, Shop Steward from Seattle Central's Co-op and on February 24th the launched a "Union Yes" video featuring workers at the Ashland Food Co-op talking about why they will be voting "yes". http://www.justiceforcoopworkers.com
On Sunday March 11th 6-8pm they will be having an important event: Worker's Rights Forum: Making Cooperative Values Work At The Ashland Food Co-op. If you are anywhere in southern Oregon be sure to show up and support these workers. It will be at La Casa Del Pueblo 1209 Siskiyou Blvd. If you want more information call: 541-482-4111
