Portland: A Palestinian Event And This Year's Mahrajan

Arab American Cultural Center of Oregon (AACCO) is pleased to announce this year's Mahrajan – the largest celebration of Arab heritage and culture in the state – will be held in the lobby and outdoor courtyard of the PCC Sylvania Performing Arts Center. Free parking in lots 9 and 11 will be available for attendees.
Delicious Arab cuisine from Aladdin’s Cafe and Taste of Lebanon, Arabic coffee, tea and refreshments from Sesame Donuts, an Arab souq (bazaar), arts and crafts for children, henna painting, cooking demonstrations, music from Ali Bourji and Company, dancing, a fashion show of Arab attire from throughout the Middle East, an art show, and a raffle for prizes…the list goes on and on in terms of entertainment at this year's Mahrajan!
This day-long, alcohol-free and tobacco-free event showcases the arts, entertainment, food, traditions, and most importantly, the spirit of Oregon’s Arab-Americans, reflecting their diversity and contributions to Oregon’s cultural landscape.

Jeff Halper is the co-founder and director of ICAHD, the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions. Born in 1946 in Minnesota, Halper emigrated to Israel in 1973. Since then he has been a tireless advocate for justice and civil rights for all Israelis and Palestinians. He spent ten years as a community worker in Jerusalem aiding low-income Mizrahi families. He
co-founded ICAHD in 1997 to help resist Israel's strategy of house demolitions in the occupied territories. He is the author of three books, Between Redemption and Revival: The Jewish Yishuv in Jerusalem in the Nineteenth Century, An Israeli in Palestine: Resisting Possession, Redeeming Israel, and Obstacles to Peace: A reframing of the Palestinian - Israeli Conflict.
