Description: Plume: A Poetry Reading by Kathleen Flenniken, Washington State Poet Laureate

Kathleen Flenniken, who grew up in Richland, Washington, next door to the Hanford Nuclear Reservation, heard all the official assurances that her community was safe from nuclear-related dangers and health hazards. After working as a civil engineer at Hanford, her life took a dramatic turn and she became an award-winning poet. She wrote the documentary poems in PLUME 20 years after declassified documents revealed a very different truth about the dangers of Hanford. A book signing will follow after the presentation. Plume will be available for purchase at the event by Tsunami Books.
